Back in the old days, people believed that professionals were always right.
Whatever the doctor, solicitor or teacher told us, we simply assumed it to be true. They had studied for it and were deemed to be knowledgeable in their respective areas of expertise.
However, over the past few decades, this has changed. And quite dramatically so, I would add! Modern technology, and Google in particular, has opened up a new world to us, in which we educate ourselves whenever an important question comes along and needs to be answered. As a result, we have started to doubt, challenge and even say “No!” to the professionals.
